Question: I applied for the Federal Skilled Worker Program earlier this year, but I was declined because the job description under the occupation that I applied for did not match the job description in my work experience.
There is another occupation almost similar to the first one I applied for, and I’m thinking about re-applying under the said occupation. Is this allowed?
Answer: Yes, that is allowed. But, there are some pointers you need to keep in mind:
1. You must have at least 1 year of work experience in the new occupation that you will be applying for.
2. The documents that you will be submitting to your second application must have the same job duties as those indicated in your first application.
If you try to change the description to match the second job, it might be considered a misrepresentation.
3. Remember not to repeat the same error that got you declined in your first application.
4. Keep in mind that you only have a limited time left to submit everything for your application. Come 2015, the system will change and you won’t be able to directly apply for the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
The new Express Entry will be a selection system and is different from the existing program, so you better submit everything before the year ends.
